MABC Member Profile - Jennifer L. Amundsen - Attorney

Ms. Amundsen has nearly 20 years’ experience in the legal and intellectual property industries and nearly 13 years’ experience as a lawyer. She represents information technology businesses, authors, independent film and video production companies, theater companies, software developers and other brand and creative content owners, with an emphasis on the implications of emerging technologies, the Internet and social media. She helps clients to identify, protect and leverage their intellectual property assets, such as trademarks and copyrights, and to avoid conflicts with third-party intellectual property assets. She also counsels clients regarding day-to-day business and legal matters, including a variety of contract matters.

 

Ms. Amundsen has also developed a niche in the areas of canine and equine law, where she advises owners and breeders of companion animals (primarily dogs) and horses on issues pertaining to their hobbies and businesses. She has represented dog clubs and equine groups, and she is a frequent speaker on legal topics pertaining to animal ownership.

 

Ms. Amundsen graduated in 2003 from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where she was regularly included on the Dean’s List. While completing law school, she served on the editorial board of the Wisconsin International Law Journal, worked as an intern for the Hon. Stephen L. Crocker of the Western District of Wisconsin and participated in a seminar on cross-cultural negotiations in Beijing and Shanghai, China. She was also a member of UW Law School’s winning team the 2003 Sojourner Truth Moot Court Competition.

 

She is a 1994 graduate of Kalamazoo College, a prestigious liberal arts college located in Michigan that is particularly celebrated for its innovative curriculum and foreign study programs. Ms. Amundsen attended “K” on a partial music scholarship, majoring in French and studying at the Université de Caen in France.

 

Ms. Amundsen is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs SouthCentral, Inc. She is also a member of Badger Kennel Club (past Director), the Clumber Spaniel Club of America (past Secretary), and the Fox River Field Spaniel Club. She is a founding director and current President of the Board of Directors of the Clumber Spaniel Health Foundation, Inc. and also serves on the board of the Friends of Madison Mounted Horse Patrol. Ms. Amundsen was selected for inclusion in the 2013 SuperLawyers Rising Stars list.

 

She enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael Finnegan, training and showing their dogs, and riding her horse.
