Using games to build camaraderie and commitment with clients and colleagues

Join us for a June in-person event at Serendipity Labs featuring MABC members Heather Dean & Lisa Wuenneman

One of the best parts of starting a consulting practice is getting to do work you enjoy with people you actually want to work alongside. But as your practice grows, that sense of energy, connection, and joy can be harder to maintain.

At this interactive Game Night, you’ll rotate through hands-on game stations with fellow consultants, sparking conversation, collaboration, and a little friendly competition. Along the way, we’ll unpack why these experiences work. And explore how you can intentionally use games and creative formats to strengthen relationships, increase engagement, and create more memorable client experiences.

You’ll leave with new connections, fresh ideas you can apply immediately, and a reminder that growing your business doesn’t have to feel transactional. It can be genuinely fun.

    From Tension to Clarity:

    Preparing for High-Stakes Conversations

Join us in July at the Goodman Community Center for an in-person event in featuring Katie Kolon of Mutual Ground Strategies

For solopreneurs and consultants, important conversations carry real risk. A pricing issue. Scope creep. Misaligned expectations. A referral relationship that feels strained. Not every tension requires confrontation, but some conversations are necessary to protect your business.

In this interactive session, we will use a short diagnostic to help you assess whether a conversation is warranted. Then we will walk through a structured preparation framework from the Important Conversations Playbook.

    You will learn how to:

    • Clarify whether the issue is about strategy, boundaries, expectations, or values.
    • Identify and name the emotions driving the situation rather than suppressing them.
    • Surface your needs, interests, and non-negotiables.
    • Create a shared problem statement or goal before jumping to positions.
    • Use reframing to reduce defensiveness and move toward constructive dialogue.

Participants will leave with a practical preparation worksheet and tools they can immediately apply to client relationships, partnerships, and personal conversations.

    About the Presenter

Katie Kolon is the founder of Mutual Ground Strategies, where she helps business owners, founders, and consultants address conflict before it erodes trust or profitability. Her work centers on preparing leaders for important conversations that carry both relational and financial risk.

Katie is a certified mediator and mediation coach with more than a decade of experience facilitating high-stakes discussions. A former employment law attorney with a background in Customer Experience Operations, she understands the pressures consultants face when client relationships become strained.

Her facilitative approach emphasizes preparation, emotional awareness, boundary clarity, and structured dialogue so leaders can address difficult issues directly while preserving long-term working relationships.

Your focus should be on business growth, not wondering if your next check is a fraud

Join us for an August in-person event at Serendipity Labs with Zach Scheeler and Kayla Lowrey from Associated Bank

As a small business owner, your focus should be on growth – not on whether your next email or check is a trap.

Join Kayla Lowrey, Branch Manager, and Zach Scheeler, Senior Small Business Banking Relationship Manager, for Associated Bank for an essential session designed to safeguard your small business from evolving financial threats. Solo operations often lack the dedicated security departments of larger corporations, causing them to be a primary target for sophisticated fraudsters. In this session, they'll help bridge that gap with actionable bank-level insights.

    What the session will cover:

    • Identifying Red Flags: learn to spot sophisticated phishing, invoice fraud, and social engineering tactics.
    • The Anatomy of Check & Wire Fraud: learn the common schemes – from “check washing’ to business email compromise.
    • Pro-Tip’s: If you suspect you’ve been targeted the first 24 hours are critical. We’ll discuss how to engage with your financial institution immediately to mitigate potential losses.
    • Recovery Roadmap: Exactly what to do if you suspect your data or accounts have been compromised.

Stay Protected. Stay Focused. Stay in business.

The Productive Few: Five Behaviors That Let You Close Your Laptop Without Guilt

Join us for our September Program, featuring Jenna Piché

You finish a full day of client work, close your laptop, and immediately think: "When am I going to work on my business?" The proposals that need writing. The networking you've been putting off. The strategic thinking that never seems to happen. So you open the laptop back up—again.

This session is based on proprietary research studying 750+ working professionals to identify the specific behaviors that separate high performers from those who feel perpetually busy but unproductive. The findings are clear: it's not about working harder—it's about working with intention.

You'll learn how to CRAFT your most productive day—so you can actually leave work at work. These aren't generic tips; they're research-backed strategies designed for consultants who face constant client demands, shifting priorities, and the challenge of building a business while serving clients. You'll discover the five elements that high performers use to stay focused and effective, even when everything around them feels chaotic.

      Key Takeaways:

      • How to design your day before it designs you — so client urgencies don't automatically hijack time for business development and strategic thinking.
      • The power of starting right — a simple ritual that helps top performers shift into focus mode, even when opening your inbox feels like chaos.
      • Why your environment is sabotaging you — how to design your workspace to protect attention instead of fragmenting it across tools and notifications.
      • The filter that cuts through the noise — a practical decision-making tool to identify what actually moves your practice forward.
      • How to set boundaries that actually stick — the specific thresholds high performers establish without damaging client relationships or appearing unresponsive.

      About the Presenter

Jenna Piché is an American entrepreneur, sought-after keynote speaker, corporate trainer, and consultant dedicated to transforming how we think about time management and focus in the workplace.

The founder of First Light Coaching, Piché is a Full Focus Certified Pro who challenges her audiences to "work smarter, not harder." Her proprietary "Personal Productivity System" provides a people-centered framework for achieving goals, enhancing productivity, and driving sustainable growth.

Prior to founding her consultancy, Jenna spent 20 years as a corporate marketing executive responsible for driving the success of multimillion-dollar brands. While in this leadership role, Jenna noticed patterns of inefficiency in how businesses operate. She saw how habits of overwhelm, confusion, and lack of communication influenced the outcomes and performance of high-potential leaders.

Today, Jenna brings real-world, practical solutions to support her mission: helping individuals, teams, and organizations turn their focus into their competitive advantage. Her signature keynotes and workshops inspire action with clear, step-by-step strategies and relatable stories to transform productivity and help teams maximize their impact while reducing overwhelm and burnout.
